3 Things You Must Do In The New Year For Your Business

January 2, 2021 by Allisonrlancaster

It’s finally 2021! Is anyone else excited for the new year? I always love this time of year, it’s a time of reflection on the past year but also a time of goal setting and fresh beginnings. While we focus on things like taking down holiday decorations, organizing our home, etc., it can be easy to forget our business in the busyness of everything else.

Here are 3 things you MUST do in the New Year for your business!

Update the dates on everything

Many of us forget to update the copyright on your website footer, dates for events for the upcoming year, etc. on your website as well as on your social media. Often we forget these items until someone points them out to us. Even though things like copyright dates on website footers aren’t that important, they do make your business look more professional if they are updated in a timely manner. A new customer or reader coming to your site wants to feel like you are updating your site often and things like this do matter!

Get your books in order

Make sure you organize your receipts, etc. from last year to get a jumpstart on this year’s tax season. If you have a bookkeeper, even better! Also, if you didn’t have great financial systems in place for the previous year, now is the time to set them up for this year!

Cut the fat

I know, this doesn’t sound like the most appealing to-do item and you’re probably wondering ‘what does she mean??’. There are a few things you can do to ‘cut the fat’ in the New Year in your business. Some of my favorite ways to do this are:

  • Analyze all of your recurring subscriptions and expenses, cancel anything you aren’t using or isn’t beneficial.
  • What tasks do you do that you could outsource? If you found yourself getting bogged down and spending hours on things last year such as social media scheduling, copywriting, etc. look at what you can outsource and do it! This will free up your time to focus on growing your revenue in the year to come.
  • What tasks are you doing that you don’t need to be doing? Maybe you’re spending hours on a social media platform that is giving you very little ROI. Take a good look at what you’re doing day to day in your business and I can assure you, there are likely tasks you are doing that you don’t need to be doing.

I wish you all the best in the year to come!!

Remember when I told you recently not to give up o Remember when I told you recently not to give up on Pinterest?

I sure hope you listened to me 🤣

We are seeing some AMAZING metrics on client accounts in the last 90 days. While we usually see great results for our clients on Pinterest - there can be ebbs and flows based on things like algorithms, seasonality, etc.

The signals that I'm seeing lately are things that we haven't seen in a few years from Pinterest.

If you joined my live training a few months ago- you'll know that I predicted Pinterest would sort of 'go back to the basics' in 2023 and that's what we're starting to see...I'm seeing more and more things from them shifting value back to organic creators. 🎊

We have VERY limited spots for Pinterest clients currently...if you're interested in taking your Pinterest strategy to the next level, I'd love to hear from you!

Thank you SO much! I love seeing clients' traffic Thank you SO much! I love seeing clients' traffic growth and results from our work together🥰
Being a mom is hard. Being a business owne Being a mom is hard.

Being a business owner is hard.

Being a mom brings more joy than I could have ever imagined.

Being a business owner brings more joy than I could have ever imagined.

What do the two have to do with each other?

So much.

When I became a mom and a business owner- I had no idea what I was getting into. I had no idea where to even start to be honest.

The only thing I knew - with each of them - was to throw my whole heart into it. To trust my intuition, work hard and ultimately- do what I knew was right.

I have followed that in everything from changing the first diaper to sitting in the NICU praying for my babies' lives to signing my first client to dealing with difficult choices in our business.

I have followed my heart, trusted my intuition, worked hard, and done what I know and believe to be right. I know it sounds simple but there have been many times..it wasn't simple.

I firmly believe that in anything you do in life if you put your whole heart into it, trust your intuition, work hard and do what you know to be right...so many of the other pieces will fall into place.

Of course, that doesn't mean you will be an overnight success but it does mean that when you look back on the journey...no matter what the destination ends up being...you can say "I worked hard, I trusted my intuition and I did it all in love".

At the end of the day...to me, that's success.
